32 GB Nexus 7 release date for UK said to be before Christmas, for Price of £200

There have been several rumours, leaks and developments on the release of the 32 GB Nexus 7 by Google over the past few days. Images leaked from a UK based retailer indicated a £200 price point, which is the same as the current 16 GB version, leading to the likelihood that the 16 GB Nexus 7 will be retired post the launch of its higher capacity cousin. A Japanese youngster ordered a 16 GB Nexus 7 from the Play Store, and actually received a 32 GB Nexus 7 instead, obviously due to an error, but he couldn’t have been happier. Reports of the 32 GB variant being spotted in the Carphone Warehouse database and a possible October 24th release, also fuelled speculation that the much awaited device would be imminently available.

Here’s adding some more fuel to the Nexus 7 fire. UK based tech website ITProPortal received a tip from someone connected to Argos, a popular UK retailer, that the 32 GB variant would be listed in Argos’ Christmas gift guide for a price of £199.99. It also reports that the 16 GB version will be phased out, and the 8 GB version will continue at its current pricing of £159.99.

If true, this means that the launch could be as early as this week, giving customers enough time to make their purchases before Christmas hits us. While it is quite possible that this may be a case of jumping the gun by Argos, with all these unofficial reports surrounding their flagship device, it is also quite possible that either Google or Asus, or both, will step up to the occasion and make an official announcement soon enough.

We’re going to keep our eyes and ears focused on the Nexus 7 radar till then, and if we hear anything new, you would be the first to know about it.
