[Update: Pixel too] 1st Gen Pixel XL joins the LineageOS family

LineageOS 15.1 has always been about giving Android users a taste of stock Android 8.1 Oreo alongside a myriad of necessary tweaks and improvements. But perhaps the fact that the Google Pixel family already boasts of stock Android meant that no one was in a hurry to add this device to the growing list of LineageOS supported smartphones, until now.

In the latest update, we can now confirm that the OG Google Pixel and Pixel XL (codenamed Marlin) are now a member of the LineageOS 15.1 family. As pointed out, this version is based on Android 8.1 Oreo, but it has its own additional features and tweaks that users of the Pixel XL will find interesting.

To those already using Android P beta, moving to an Oreo-based ROM might feel like a downgrade, but hey, it’s LineageOS we are talking about and not just any other custom ROM. Still, the wait for the Android P-based LineageOS 16 shouldn’t be long now that the stable Android P is almost here.
