ZTE Grand X IN – Release Date for Austria is near.

ZTE, the Chinese telecom giant, has launched its first Android smartphone with Intel-inside– the ZTE Grand X IN, in Vienna, Austria. The ZTE Grand X IN will sport a 4.3″ TFT capacitive qHD display(540 x 960 pixels resolution), a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2460 processor with 1 GB RAM, an 8 MP rear facing camera, 0.3 MP front camera, and ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Grand X IN will come in 4GB and 16GB flavours, both with an expandable microSD slot (upto 32 GB).

By expanding into Central and Eastern Europe ZTE aims to become the third largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world. After having been embroiled in a controversy with the US government, along with compatriot Huawei, ZTE seems to be looking towards Europe for its growth plans, with Austria being chosen as the centre for its expansion plans.

ZTE produced over 15 million smartphones for the global market this year. It is currently ranked as the fourth largest manufacturer of mobile phones in the world, and through its European expansion plans, it expects to double its turnover by 2014, and move up the charts and claim the #3 spot.
