Yu Televentures — which shot to fame with its Yu Yureka — has been musing over the name of its next release since some time. Apparently, the company was having a hard time settling on the perfect name and hence decided to ask its customers to join in naming the yet to come smartphone.
Selected after a crowd-sourced campaign which saw over a 1,00,000 entries from enthusiastic supporters and fans, the company has decided to christen its next “Yuphoria” with participants prefering it over other options which included Yuknight, Yunicorn, Yunity, and Youth.
The device which may be launched later this month over an online retail store, is expected to come with a 64-bit processor — likely to be the Snapdragon 410 — and is almost certain to run on Android 5.0-based Cyanogen OS 12. The device is also known to feature 16GB of internal storage along with 2GB of RAM. Other than that not much is known since Yu seems quite keen on keeping its next under the wraps until its released.
Judging by what we do know about Yu’s next, the device is going to have a tough fight on its hands since it will be up against Moto E, Xiaomi Redmi 2, Asus Zenfone C among others, with all of them eyeing the highly lucrative Indian mid level segment. Now wheather or not it manages to come on top, is a question that only time can answer.
The Yu Yureka was a great success, and Yu is probably hoping to repeat the feat with its Yuphoria. Let’s wish Yu all the best, in the meanwhile stay tuned as we bring you more on everything android very soon.
