Xperia X Concept Android 7.1.2 update to release next week

Xperia X Concept users are in for a treat. From next week, they will be able to enjoy the benefits of Android 7.1.2 Nougat.

Sony will be seeding out a new software update to Xperia X Concept users which will include the Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS. With it will arrive many new features viz improved Bluetooth connectivity, better fingerprint swipe performance and alerts on battery usage. However, the Xperia X Concept users will not be able to make the most of the fingerprint swipe feature as it will not be live in the Concept.

Sony had announced this ‘Sony Concept for Android‘ program, a tool for quickly getting the beta version build of Xperia X Nougat update, in November last year. Following this, the Sony’s Concept for Android developers have been regularly pushing out security patch and other updates to users and have been doing a great job. With the Android 7.1.2, the Xperia X Concept will be updated to the latest OS.

This month itself, the April security patch update was released to Xperia X Concept which arrived as software version 38.3.1.A.0.96.

  1. That is really impressive considering the Nexus and Pixel devices themselves received the update only last week. I didn’t know Sony was this quick with their updates. After all, they do all their skin on the stock firmware and that ought to take time.
