Xperia Arc Ice Cream Sandwich Firmware Leaked

Sony recently announced that the Ice Cream Sandwich update for their devices has been pushed to mid-April and beyond. However, for the Xperia Arc, an ICS firmware from Sony’s servers has been leaked by an unknown source. Now Sony has already officially released beta ICS ROMs for the Arc (and other Xperia devices), however, this leaked version is a much later build. And you can give it a try on your Arc thanks to recognized XDA developer DooMLoRD, who has released a pre-rooted package of the firmware.

Now, keep in mind that this is a leaked firmware, and though almost everything seems to be working, something or the other might not work properly and there may be bugs present in the ROM.

Read on to find out how you can install the leaked Ice Cream Sandwich firmware on your Xperia Arc.

Compatibility

This ROM and the guide below are compatible only and only with the Sony Xperia Arc, model number LT15i. It’s not compatible with any other device and may render an incompatible device unusable. Check your device model in Settings » About phone.

Warning!

The methods and procedures discussed here are considered risky and you should not attempt anything if you don’t know completely what it is. If any damage occurs to your device, we won’t be held liable.

Pre-Installation Requirements

  1. This procedure will wipe all your apps, data and settings (but it will NOT touch your SD cards, so don’t worry about those). Backup your Apps and important data — bookmarks, contacts, SMS, APNs (internet settings), etc. This Android backup guide would help you.
  2. Sufficiently charged battery, at least 50% is recommended.
