Xiaomi Mi Max 2

Xiaomi has launched its recently unveiled Mi Max 2 handset in India today at an event in Delhi. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 16,999 and will be available for purchase across online and offline channels like Big C Mobiles, Croma, LOT Mobiles, Sangeetha Mobiles, and more starting July 27.

The device will also be available exclusively at the company’s official Mi Stores starting July 20 as part of Xiaomi’s third year anniversary in India.

The Mi Max 2 comes as the successor to the Mi Max which was launched last year. It was already a stellar affordable phablet back then, and the Mi Max 2 just takes things up a notch.

Akin to its predecessor, the Mi Max 2 rocks a massive 6.44-inch IPS LCD Full HD display at the front with a layer of 2.5D curved glass running over it.

Unlike, the original Mi Max, however, the handset comes with a Snapdragon 625 SoC which might seem like a downgrade at first but really isn’t unless you are a hardcore gamer.

There’s 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage under-the-hood which should be good enough to hoard oodles of multimedia files. In case you need more space, you can further expand the storage (up to 128GB) via a microSD card (hybrid dual-SIM slot).

The company has also included stereo speakers this time around which is definitely a nice addition.

When it comes to imaging, you get a 12MP PDAF sensor at the back which is capable of recording 4K videos. At the front is a 5MP f/2.0 sensor to take care of selfies.

The 4G VoLTE capable handset runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based MIUI out-of-the-box. It should receive the MIUI 9 update once released shortly.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 draws fuel from a massive 5,300mAh battery which comes as a decent upgrade in comparison to its predecessor. The device also supports Quick Charge 3.0, in case you are wondering.

Another point worth mentioning is that the company is offering 100GB of additional data for folks who use Reliance Jio network.
