Xiaomi Mi Max 2 hits Geekbench with Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB RAM and Android 7.1.1

Xiaomi Mi Max 2

We are only a few hours away from the official launch of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2, and the rumor mill doesn’t seem to stay mum whatsoever. Earlier today, the pricing details, as well as specifications of the smartphone, leaked out which is now followed by another rumor.

The leak comes in the form of a Geekbench listing which reveals that the Mi Max 2 will actually come with the Snapdragon 625 processor, and not the new Snapdragon 626 chipset, let alone the fact that it was rumored to house new cool Snapdragon 660 processor at the early stages of its development.

We say this as the listing mentions the presence of a MSM8953 chipset clock at 2.02GHz, which is none other than the Snapdragon 625 SoC, that we also find on Redmi Note 4 (see listing). While, the Snapdragon 626 processor is dubbed as MSM8953-pro, and comes clocking in at 2.21GHz, something we find on Galaxy C7 Pro (see listing).

While the Snapdragon 625 SoC is pretty decent chip and will make for a good battery life despite the huge 6.4-inch screen, it’s slightly disappointing to not see even the Snapdragon 626 processor here.

For the unaware, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has been long-rumored to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 660 chipset. A good number of rumors also suggested that the smartphone will make do with the Snapdragon 626 chipset. Based on how things are turning out, none of it could be true.

With that being said, considering that the smartphone is tipped to be launched in two variants, we still can’t rule out the possibility of a Mi Max 2 with a Snapdragon 660 chipset.

The listing also reveals that the smartphone will pack 4GB of RAM. Other rumored features include a massive 5,400mAh battery, 12MP rear camera, 5MP selfie camera, and Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will be unveiled at an event in China tomorrow. Keep a tab on this place for more updates.
