Verizon Droid Turbo also gets February security update, build 24.91.5

Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo users have started receiving a new firmware update which brings with it the latest monthly security patch. The new software update which is hitting the Droid Turbo devices on Verizon installs the February security patch.

Arriving as build number 24.91.5, the update is Marshmallow based. It not only installs the most up to date Android security patch on your Droid Turbo device but also brings system enhancements and bug fixes.

Verizon is seeding the update over the air and recommends you to connect your device to a Wi-Fi network before hitting the download button. Another recommendation is to ensure that your battery is fully charged before starting the software update.

Motorola Droid Turbo was launched way back in 2014 with Android KitKat OS on board. Two years after its launch, the device got Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update last year in December. As is obvious, chances of it getting bumped to Nougat OS are next to none.

But its successor Droid Turbo 2 got lucky last month with the release of Android 7.0 Nougat for it. The Nougat update for Droid Turbo 2 arrives as software version 25.11.10.

Meanwhile, Verizon is also pushing out the February security update to three LG devices (G3, G Vista and K4) and two Galaxy handsets ( S5 and Note Edge).

  1. What a surprise. I didn’t the Droid Turbo would get any more updates since it is 3 years old. It took Verizon over a year to update it to Android Marshmallow, which occured in December. Obviously, it will net Android Nougat

  3. Actually is the January patch, not February. On my phone it shows January 1, 2017 patch

  5. Will this fix the “do not disturb” issue of being unable to permanently disable it?

  7. Sadly, looks like they disabled the Developer Option for “Stay Awake” for the screen to stay on while charging.

  9. Will it allow me to make my ring louder and the alert tone softer? Had to change my ringtone last month because I could no longer hear it –it was very gentle music–but my message alert was suddenly loud enough to make me jump. Since Marshmallow had linked the two, I ended up finding a different, louder ringtone. Annoying. And then there’s the vertical only Kindle app screen and the horizontal scrolling. Not a happy camper.

  13. What is GPS “catching,” @bigbird?

    1. Sorry for my poor English. Google map take much longer time to get GPS signal than before update.

Motorola may force us to buy a new phone

  14. After the update to 24.91.5 my smart watch app no longer works. I’m not sure how to fix this. I’ve tried a number of options with clearing cache and data, reinstalling, but nothing works. Any ideas?

  17. After update, screens (Calendar, Maps, etc) on my Motorola Droid Turbo 2, freeze from time-to-time and even the Google Keyboard freezes while typing. Rebooting helps but only temporarily. I should not have to re-boot the phone every day. Any way to switch back to older software? Never had issues with that.
