Use Android Pay on Google Pixel and Pixel XL with unlocked bootloader using a SafetyNet patch

A new patch allows Google Pixel and Pixel XL owners to use Android Pay even if their device bootloader has been unlocked.

Unlocking the bootloader on your smartphone gives you more power over your device. However, OEM’s aren’t too favorable to it and usually when someone unlocks the bootloader on a device, some features are disabled.

In case of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, unlocking the bootloader will trip the SafetyNet check and cause Android Pay to stop functioning. With this new patch, which is essentially the stock kernel with a patch, you can bypass the check.

This is a very useful patch, since a lot of users do want to have Android Pay properly working on their devices. The SafetyNet check can also fail if your device is rooted, and this kernel won’t work in that case.

This patch will only work on Google Pixel and Pixel XL running Android 7.1.2 with build number NHG47K. The modified kernel will work for both the devices, and can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page. You will have to manually install the kernel file via Fastboot.
