Unreal Engine Befriends Current Generation Single Core Processors Too, that’s Awesome!

The famous engine for PC games, Unreal Engine, is set to shake the android world soon as the company just announced that the current crop of 1 Ghz phones, capable of OpenGL ES 2.0, will be able to run its super games too.

Earlier, the unreal engine for android was considered limited in its availability since it was speculated that only the nVidia Tegra 2 processor powered devices would be capable of running games made using the unreal engine.

The latest report practically means that all current high end devices running 1 Ghz processor underneath shall be capable of unreal engine games, except the first gen Qualcomm processor we saw in Nexus One, HTC desire, Sony Ericsson, etc. So, phones like Galaxy S, T-Mobile G2 (2nd gen Qualcomm processor), Droid X, Droid 2, etc are quite capable of running unreal engine games.

If you want to see 3d gaming on phones reach a higher level, games with unreal engine should be on your watch list. Check out the video of the game Dungeon Defenders at the end, to get the feel of what we’re talking about and the compare it with the best you’ve seen thus far.

Moreover, the games will be cross functional — meaning you can play with your iPhone fan friend with your android phone.

Gaming and Tablets, we think, are gonna run a riot next year, as Google also tries its best for support for both in its forthcoming android OS versions, 2.3 (Gingerbread) and 3.0 (Honeycomb).

Are you ready?
