Unofficial CM9 Booted on EVO 4G LTE. Remains Under Development For Now

So it begins. The quest for bringing the granddaddy of all custom ROMs — CyanogenMod 9 (CM9) — to the HTC EVO 4G LTE has been embarked upon, by XDA Recognized Developer kushdeck, who has managed to boot a preliminary unofficial CM9 ROM on the device.

CyanogenMod 9 brings the stock Android 4.0 experience without any added bloat or unnecessary OEM apps (as found on the default software that comes with the device), along with faster performance and a lot of useful customization options, and you’ll soon be able to enjoy it on your EVO 4G LTE. The ROM is in the early stages right now and a work in progress, so it’s not suggested to be flashed till it has become a bit more stable and usable. But that should soon be achieved as more and more devs jump on and help with the development of the ROM.

Head over to the official development page to get more details on the unofficial CM9 ROM for the EVO 4G LTE, and bookmark it so you can check back later for a usable version of the ROM. We will of course be covering a step-by-step guide on how to install the ROM when it reaches usable levels, so stay tuned.

Meanwhile, check out how you can root your HTC EVO 4G LTE → here, and also install the TWRP custom recovery on it so you can flash CM9 later on, by following the guide → here.
