[How To] TWRP Recovery for LG G Pad 8.3 Android tablet

Page content:

With CWM Recovery launched for G Pad, getting a TWRP on this tablet was only a matter of time. Here we are covering TWRP Recovery 2.6.3.0 for LG’s tablet.

One big thing where TWRP wins over CWM Recovery (in case of LG G Pad) is that this TWRP version is official, while CWM is un-official. It will get frequent official updates, which translates to stable and quick upgrades.

WARNING!

Warranty may be void of your device if you follow the procedures given on this page.

You only are responsible for your device. We won’t be liable if any damage occurs to your device and/or its components.

CHECK DEVICE MODEL NO.

To make sure your device is eligible with this, you must first confirm its model no. in ‘About device’ option under Settings. Another way to confirm model no. is by looking for it on the packaging box of your device. It must be V500!

Do not use the procedures discussed here on any device of LG or any other company. You have been warned!

BEFORE YOU BEGIN..

You must do this pre-installation stuff before attempting to install TWRP recovery on your LG G Pad 8.3 in order to avoid any complications later, and have a smooth and successful process.

BACK UP YOUR DEVICE

Back up important data and stuff before you start playing around here as there are chances you might lose your apps and app-data (app settings, game progress, etc.), and in rare case, files on the internal memory, too.

└ Note: In case the script gets stuck on < waiting for device > (see image below) for more than a minute or so, then it means you don’t have proper drivers installed on your computer for your G Pad. Follow the drivers installation guide provided above in ‘Before you begin..‘ section for troubleshooting driver and other connectivity issues.

Hi. This is not working for me either. I get the following message after executing the batch file, and the device does not reboot.

    4102 KB/s (10082304 bytes in 2.400s)

    124 KB/s (6376 bytes in 0.050s)

    shell@android:/ $

I also trying running the batch file as administrator, which gave me the following message:

cannot stat ‘openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-awifi.img’: No such file or directory
cannot stat ‘loki_flash’: No such file or directory
    shell@android:/ $

If I try to reboot into recovery myself, it shows the android laying on his back, the front part of him open, and the red exclamation mark, and a “no command message”. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? Thank you!

Stuck at “root@android”. When I try to run the batch as administrator it closes itself getting me the message that adb isn’t recognize as an internal command. Guess I should install android sdk.
