After a day that was chock full of announcements for Google’s new Nexus family of devices, the merrymaking at Google won’t be stopping any time soon, as according to Bloomberg, the total number of apps in the Google Play Store has reached 700,000.
Google hasn’t officially reported these numbers yet, but I’d say it is not a surprise that the number apps has risen to that amount, given how Android continues to rise in popularity as well as market share. Of course, most of those 700,000 apps will never even be noticed by users, but since the industry (or rather fanboys) make a big deal about the number of apps in an OS’ app store, Google will no doubt be looking to happily tout this milestone to the public soon.
