Verizon has released new security updates for the Samsung Galaxy S7, the Galaxy S7 Edge, the S6 Edge Plus and the Galaxy Note 5. These updates are important ones, and we recommend installing them the moment you get them.
The update includes the latest October Android security patch and also patches the Blueborne Bluetooth exploit. For the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge, the build numbers are NRD90M.G930VVRS4BQI1 and NRD90M.G935VVRS4BQI1, respectively.
If you’ve got the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, then the build number is NRD90M. G928VVRS3CQI3. Finally, the build number for the Galaxy Note 5 is NRD90M. N920VVRS3CQI3. It’s good to see that Verizon is providing the latest security updates for older devices as well.
All of the software updates are based on Android Nougat as of now, and we still haven’t seen any news about Oreo update for the latest Samsung flagships. It will be out soon, as per recent reports, but there’s no solid date or a beta yet.

Those who’ve got the above mentioned Samsung Galaxy devices from Verizon, you can check for the update manually as well. Simply head to Settings > About Device > Software Updates. All of the updates would be delivered over-the-air, so make sure your device is connected to a WiFi network, and sufficiently charged, before installing.
