[How To] Install Moto G UK Generic Firmware/Stock ROM

Now, even after unlocking the bootloader of your Motorola Moto G, you still have to complete one tiny little step before you can root your phone (if you are using a branded model, like Tesco, etc). You have to flash the UK Generic stock ROM to un-brand your Motorola G.

Furthermore, it is not even as hard as it sounds. The famous developer, Paul O’Brien (you rock, Paul!), has made an easy one-click script for installing the UK Generic firmware.

So, for whatever reason you want to flash the UK Generic stock ROM, follow the guide below.

NOTE: You need to first unlock the bootloader of your Motorola Moto G to proceed with the installation of UK Generic ROM. If you are not sure how to do that, follow the link below:

WARNING!

Warranty may be void of your device if you follow the procedures given on this page.

You only are responsible for your device. We won’t be liable if any damage occurs to your device and/or its components.

CHECK DEVICE MODEL NO.

To make sure your device is eligible with this, you must first confirm its model no. in ‘About device’ option under Settings. Another way to confirm model no. is by looking for it on the packaging box of your device. It must be XT1033/XT1032!

This procedure here will work for both single-sim and dual-sim variants. Do not use the procedures discussed here on any device of Motorola or any other company. You have been warned!

BEFORE YOU BEGIN..

You must do this pre-installation stuff before attempting to install UK stock ROM on your Moto G to avoid any complications later, and have a smooth and successful process.

BACK UP YOUR DEVICE

Back up important data and stuff before you start playing around here as there are chances you might lose your apps and app-data (app settings, game progress, etc.), and in rare case, files on the internal memory, too.

For help on Backup and Restore, check out our exclusive page on that linked right below.

CHARGE YOUR DEVICE

So, make sure your device is adequately charged — at least 50% battery of the device.

This is a UK firmware and Moto G Dual SIM was never released officially in the UK. So this won’t support dual SIM.
