Huawei moves into AI domain, to release a new artificial intelligence chip this fall

After proving its prowess in the smartphone market, Huawei has other plans up its sleeves. It wants to expand its business and enter the AI domain. The Chinese company recently announced its plans to release a new artificial intelligence chip sometime this fall.

Acknowledging the era of artificial intelligence, the company’s CEO of Consumer Business, Yu Chengdong, said: In this era, the collaborative intelligent experience of the end + cloud + chip is very important.

He made the announcement during a press conference about the company’s 2017 half-year performance.

Meanwhile, Huawei revealed its success rate with the shipment of 73.01 million smartphones in the first half of 2017 and a surge in its revenues which jumped up to CNY283.1 billion during the January-June period.

The company has eyes set on VR, AR, smart home, car networking sectors and for this plans to invest in “innovation, quality, channel, and service”.
