Instagram now allows you to share stories with selected friends and family members only

Instagram Close Friends

Popular social media platform, Instagram, on its Info Center, announced the launch of its newest feature that lets users create a list of close friends who receive their most personal updates. We’ve seen a similar feature on Facebook where users can create lists and only a specified list of people can see the status updates.

Since Instagram is owned by Facebook, it isn’t really surprising that the feature has found life here as well. However, this comes in contrast to how most people generally use Instagram. Most people look to get the maximum number of followers to show off their popularity whereas this function limits the audience of your posts.

The new feature has been termed ‘Close Friends’ and can be used to create a list of people who you’re comfortable sharing your most private moments with. When you create a new Instagram story, you’ll now be able to see the additional option ‘Close Friends’ marked with a white star. Tapping on the option only sends out the story to your selective list of people.

Also, the great thing about this feature is that other users won’t know you’ve excluded them from the list and neither can they send you a request on the app to add them to the list, thereby ensuring full privacy as well as confidentiality. Recently, Instagram added another feature that helps to track and set reminders about usage time of its app on your phone.
