Samsung Galaxy J1 mini Prime LTE, Galaxy A6 Plus, and Galaxy Tab S2 VE get May security patch update

Samsung, the South Korean tech company is undoubtedly the top Android OEM, spreading across the entire price spectrum in the market. While it has struggled to deliver major software updates in a timely manner as apparent from their handling of Android 8.0 Oreo, we are seeing some form of consistency in monthly patches from the company lately — notwithstanding its vast portfolio of devices. Speaking of which, Samsung is pushing out the latest-right-now May security patch as an update for a handful of its devices today.

The Galaxy J1 Mini Prime LTE with firmware version J106MUBS0ARE1, the Galaxy A6 Plus carrying the new firmware version A605FNXXU1ARE2, and the Galaxy TAB S3 VE with firmware version T819XXU2BRE1 is now being pushed out across all regions in an incremental manner.

It could take a few days for the OTA update notification to reach the above devices, and you can also manually search for it by heading over to Settings – Software update – Download updates manually.

Samsung recently started rolling out Oreo for the Galaxy S7, but that is far from a finished job right now. The Galaxy S7 Oreo rollout is yet to reach the US, where the carrier testing results in extra delay over the long time period Samsung already takes preparing the major OS updates.

Have you received the May security update on your device already?
