Samsung Officially Announces Android 4.0 QWERTY Phone, Meet the Galaxy Chat

Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Chat, the company’s first Android 4.0 smartphone with a physical QWERTY keyboard, and also its first low/mid-range Android 4.0 device. The official announcement comes just a couple of days after information on the device was leaked online.

Having the model number GT-B5330, the Galaxy Chat features a 3-inch QVGA display, a physical QWERTY keyboard, 4 GB of internal storage with support for microSD cards up to 32 GB, 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, a 1200 mAh battery, and Android 4.0 as mentioned above. The chipset powering the device was not mentioned by Samsung, but that information should get out in the following days. The Galaxy Chat will come with Samsung’s ChatON  communication service with a dedicated ChatON launch key, which is no surprise considering the device is aimed at texters with its QWERTY keyboard.

The phone will be available from this month in Spain, followed by other countries in Europe, Latin America, Middle East, China, Southeast Asia, and Southwest Asia. We’ll get you pricing and concrete release dates when we get a hold of that info, so stay tuned.
