Nokia releases a Support app on the Play Store

HMD has announced the global variant of its Nokia 6 smartphone along with the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5, all running Google’s Android OS, and no manufacturer declares a phone global (or releases it both at home and abroad) without the intent of making it a global success and bringing in global profit.

With global phones, HMD wants to create a global experience – which involves good global support. Support chat apps are one way today to resonate with mobile users, and HMD has it pre-installed on its latest smartphones. The new goal, though, is to make the app easy to update. That involves placing it on the platform’s app store (in this case, the Google Play Store for Android users).

The Nokia Support app found on the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 has now been placed in the Play Store, allowing HMD to update the app quickly without delaying system updates to the latest Android release. The Nokia Support app, as it is called, features chat support (you can talk with representatives about problems with your phone), find info and directions on the closest Nokia mobile care centers near you, check your device warranty, as well as view a phone user guide and get tips on how to enjoy your new Nokia smartphone.

HMD is making a wise move to help update its Support app from the Play Store, but the manufacturer isn’t alone in doing so. Android OEM giant Samsung released its Galaxy S8 Launcher app to the Play Store nearly two weeks ago. OnePlus released its Community app for OnePlus smartphone owners on Google’s app store as well.
