Motorola Charm Officially Announced, with Android 2.1 and ‘BackTrack’

Motorola Charm Bronze Color Android 2.1

Touted as the phone for Back-To-School days — and need we mention it was available for free if ordered online with a two year contract — the Motorola Charm, headed to T-Mobile exclusively, has finally been officially announced by the Company.

Charming features of the device include a CandyBar design (reminds of Blackberry days!) that features a portrait physical QWERTY keyboard underneath a 2.8 inch touchscreen running Android 2.1 — married sweetly to specifically redesigned Motoblur for the purpose — with a welcome addition called ‘Backtrack’. You already saw ‘BackTrack’ in the rear of AT&T’s BackFlip. It is basically meant for convenient navigation so that you don’t rue the comparatively smaller 2.8 inch screen every time you brush your fingers on the screen.

Motorola Charm Cabernet Color Official

While the pricing is till kept in the dark, we have learned that Motorla Charm will be available in two colors: Bronze and Cabernet. Let’s visit the specs:

  • CrystalTalk Plus
  • 2.8 inch QVGA touchscreen display
  • Wi-Fi
  • A-GPS, eCompass
  • 3.5mm headset jack
  • Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR
  • FM radio
  • 3MP photo camera with fixed focus and Kodak Perfect Touch technology
  • 512MB internal memory, 2GB MicroSD card included

Besides that, measured at 98.4 x 67 x 11.4 mm, the body weighs just 110 grams — which is good for the targeted audience — the school goers, and even others, for some heavy texting and social networking.

In case you want a physical keyboard on a healthy screen, wait for Droid 2 from Motorola, or the HTC Vision, both of which will exchange some punches for the crown of best Android device with full 4 row QWERTY keyboard.
