Android 4.0 Update for Motorola Droid Bionic to come soon; Soak test is all set to begin for new update

It looks like Motorola is inviting a lot of Droid Bionic owners for testing out a new software update. Users of the Droid Bionic from Verizon, have been patiently waiting for the official upgrade to Android 4.0, and last we heard was that it was scheduled to be released in Q4 of this year. Well, the timing seems to be just right, and they could well be testing out Android 4.0 for the Bionic.

A soak test is when a small number of handsets of a certain model, in this case the Motorola Droid Bionic, get to test a new software update. Once the update is tested successfully, it then gets released out on a larger scale to the overall user base. The advantage of doing it this way, is that if something goes wrong, the impact is limited to a relatively small number of users, and can be rectified before release to the overall base. Of course, to be able to participate in a soak test, one needs to be a member of the Motorola Feedback network, and you are expected to keep everything confidential once you agree to be a part of it.

Of course, we are not completely sure yet, what this update is all about, but are hoping sincerely that it is the long overdue Android 4.0 bump-up. Soak tests usually take a day or two to start off, and once successful the actual update is released post a few days. So let’s wait and watch what’s in store for the Droid Bionic.
