LG Optimus 4X HD and Optimus L7 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update coming soon

If there was one flagship Android device that has been treated horribly when it comes to updates, it has to be the Optimus 4X HD by LG. Being the first quad-core Android smartphone as well as LG’s first 2012 flagship, one would presume it would be first in line to get the Jelly Bean update, but that hasn’t been the case and has angered many who bought the device.

However, that horribly long wait is now coming to an end as LG Germany has announced on its blog that both the Optimus 4X HD and Optimus L7 will be getting the Jelly Bean update sometime around the end of March. The update will bring faster and smoother operation thanks to Project Butter enhancements, Google Now, actionable and expandable notifications, offline voice typing, support for Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), and other tweaks and improvements.

The update will roll out to unlocked variants of the two devices first, before heading out to carrier-locked ones later on after carriers approve the update. The update won’t be arriving over the air though and will need users to use LG’s Mobile Support Tool, which means you’ll need a PC running on Windows to perform the update.

More info on how to update using the tool is given at the source link.
