LG Google TVs, with Google TV 3.0, scheduled for first half of 2013

LG is prepping some new Google TVs for release in the first half of 2013, the company has just announced, in sizes ranging from 42 to 60 inches. These new TVs will be powered by Google TV 3.0, the latest version of Google’s TV software that was unveiled last month.

Thanks to Google TV 3.0, the new TVs will provide “voice search functionality beyond simple voice input level”, though it remains to be seen whether this advanced functionality comes courtesy of LG’s own customization or as default in Google TV 3.0.

Users will also be able to watch and search for content at the same time, thanks to the Quick Guide and Prime Time features, with automatic content recommendations based on a viewer’s usage habits.

The new sets will also have OnLive cloud gaming built-in (which allows users to play console and desktop-level games via the cloud without the need to store those games locally), with the option to directly connect a game controller. Access to apps and games on the Google Play Store will, of course, be possible as well.

LG will be showing off (some of) these new Google TVs at CES next month, so we’ll keep an eye for more details then.
