Ice Cream Sandwich Update for Lava Xolo X900 now available

The Motorola RAZR i might have gotten all the attention for being powered by an Intel processor, but Intel’s first foray into the Android world was with the Xola X900 by Indian manufacturer Lava, which unfortunately launched with Gingerbread Android 2.3 back in June. But the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update is finally rolling out over the air for the device, as promised by Lava.

The update will bring the usual Android 4.0 features, such as a new interface, faster performance, longer battery life, advanced mobile data usage management, redesigned notifications menu, smarter and improved keyboard, improved camera interface, and more.

The update is not yet out for the Orange San Diego, the Orange branded version of the Xolo X900, but venturous users can follow the guide over at MoDaCo to debrand their San Diego by flashing a firmware for the Xolo X900, then update to Android 4.0 over the air. This can be slightly complex, so you should wait for the update to arrive on your San Diego if you aren’t comfortable with the debranding procedure.

If you haven’t gotten the notification for the update yet, you can check for it manually from the Settings » About phone » System updates menu on the phone.
