Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 coming soon to Honor 8, Honor V8, Honor Note 8, Honor 6X, Huawei P9, and Huawei Mate 8 in China

Not long ago, we got wind that Huawei could, after all, be planning to update the Honor 8 to Android Oreo, weeks after reports emerged that the device won’t be upgraded to the new OS. While this discovery had little to do with the company on an official capacity, we now have an official communication from the Chinese OEM in regards to not only the Honor 8 Oreo update, but also other older devices too.

As of this writing, Huawei is recruiting new beta testers for Android Oreo on the Honor 8, Honor Note 8, Honor V8, Huawei Mate 8, Huawei P9, and the budget Honor 6X. This is simply great news for many out there still rocking these aging devices, especially the Honor 6X, a device that has been quite successful across the globe, including the U.S.

Huawei says it has 200 slots for each device to join the beta program, so make sure you hurry before all are occupied.

In order to join the party, your device needs to be installed with the latest software version available prior to the beta. Huawei also notes that your device shouldn’t be rooted and since this is a beta version, you may encounter some compatibility issues with third-party apps, which is pretty much normal in such cases.
