The developer community should be celebrating this moment. HTC has released the source code for the recently outed Droid DNA on the  HTCDev website. The HTC Droid DNA is a Verizon exclusive which was released to the public a little under two weeks ago. With the kind of specs this phone packs, it is not surprising that bootloader unlock and root was achieved within a matter of a few days.
Verizon’s stringency on locking down its devices is well known, but then so is the tenacity and ability of the developer community on breaking through all of those locks. But with the source code for the 1080p display touting Droid DNA now officially out, the door for Custom ROMs, tweaked kernels and limitless enhancements just got blown wide open.
HTC as an OEM has always been in tune with the Android developer community, and is perhaps one of the first, if not the first, to offer an official bootloader unlock tool on its website for its devices. The released source code is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and while it is still fresh off the block, one can expect to see ROM’s and custom kernel’s gushing forth soon enough.
And I guess it won’t be too long before the masters like Team CyanogenMOd and Team AOKP come up with a build too. Exciting times ahead for Droid DNA developers, and if you are a flashaholic user who may have been feeling bored with the stock HTC experience and frustrated with Verizon bloatware, you won’t have to wait too long before you start seeing DNA level changes.
