HTC Thunderbolt 4G Price Shows up at Best Buy. It’s Insane — $299 with 2 Yr Contract and $749 without one.

We must say, the once so hot and leading carrier in churning out one of the best android phone after another (the Droid, Droid 2, Droid X, HTC Incredible,to name some), the Verizon Wireless, looks to have lost its touch with not only in launching the better-than-industry phones, but also in pricing them effectively. We just caught a best buy guide page listing the HTC Thunderbolt at mighty $299 without contract — which is really unreasonable for a phone whose specs are nowhere near the competition. As for the without contract price — you’ll have to blow whopping $749 to take it home — that’s a murderous price to ask, you know, for this device.

Thunderbolt Price

If you look at the Droid Bionic (Verizon), Atrix 4G (AT&T) and upcoming phones like Samsung Galaxy S2 and LG Optimus 2X (already launched in Korea), the HTC Thunderbolt really lacks the thunder when it comes to specifications, let alone the design and screen quality factors.

So, we would say, if you’re an avid HTC fan and are tied to Verizon, Thunderbolt might be still capable of holding your interest but if that’s not the case, you’re better off the Thunderbolt. Even at Verizon, Droid Bionic — with 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor powering the 4.3 inch screen and named after a Droid too — is a much better phone to sign on for a 2 year contract.

By the way, in case you were not aware of this, Droid X2 is also on the way — although, don’t expect anything breathtaking there except that it still got the awesome looks and design of the original Droid X.
