HTC Operaul shows up in benchmarks, packs in Jelly Bean

2013 can’t come soon enough, with all the shiny, new smartphones that are getting readied for release. Here’s another one, this time from HTC. The Taiwanese company seems to be testing a new, yet unheard of device, which goes by the name Operaul. With the HTC J Butterfly, and the Verizon Droid DNA already on the cards, looks like HTC is really beefing up its portfolio for next year by adding newer devices to its lineup.

The mysterious Operaul has appeared in NenaMark2 bench test results, thus revealing some information about most likely specs. As you can see in the screenshot above, there is a definite indication of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board, and a 1280 x 720p HD display. With FullHD 1080p phones such as the Oppo Finder 5, HTC J Butterfly and the Verizon Droid DNA redefining what displays on high-end phones should be like in 2013, we would expect nothing less than at least a 720p display on new mid-range phones.

The device also seems to indicate a CPU clock speed of 1.4 Ghz, coupled with the Adreno 305 GPU, pointing towards a dual-core Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8930 as the most likely chip being used. As far as the codename of the device – OPERAUL is concerned, it is assumed that the actual name could be Opera, with the UL suffix referring to LTE/WCDMA/GSM capability.

Most of the information has been deduced from a single result, and can be  considered as more implied than factual. Of course, as more tests are conducted, and more hits start showing up in various benchmark results, we would start getting a better idea of Operaul’s personality.
