Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and Android 4.1 Update for both Galaxy Tab 10 and 7 in plans!

Last week, Samsung’s update plans for their devices were leaked, mentioning that Samsung would be updating most 2012 devices to Android 4.2.2 (and some to Android 5.0). The Galaxy Tab 2 (both 7.0 and 10.1 variants) was missing from the list though, but now Sammobile reports that Samsung intends to update the Tab 2 to Android 4.2.2 as well.

There’s also some interesting tidbits for owners of the original Galaxy Tab 7.0 and Tab 10.1 – Sammobile’s insiders say that Samsung is thinking of bringing Android 4.1.2 to the two devices, and has apparently been testing how Android 4.1 works on the dual-core Tegra processor powering them. These tests don’t confirm that the updates will come for sure though, unless the processor is able to handle the updated OS well enough and the test firmware are found to work okay.

Coming back to the Galaxy Tab 2, Samsung intends to stop supporting it past Android 4.2.2, which shouldn’t be surprising anyone. The updates are expected to be finished till September, which again is not surprising considering how much time the company took updating the devices to Android 4.1. Better late then never though, eh?

Oh, and the insider also reconfirmed that all dual-core phones and tablets will be updated to Android 4.2.2, as was indicated in the upgrade plans that were leaked. If Samsung manages to pull this off, it will make it even a bigger force to reckon with in the race of the Android manufacturers, a race in which there is never a guarantee of whether a device will get an update.

We’ll be sure to let you know more about these updates as and when we come across more info. Fingers crossed for all this turning out to be true.
