Galaxy S8 Active specs and press renders leak

The rugged version of Samsung Galaxy S8 is here. Having cleared WiFi Alliance certification and benchmarked on GeekBench, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is all set to hit the stage. Prior to this, a recent leak has thrown light on detailed specsheet of the device along with press renders.

The leak also posts an image showing a comparison between Galaxy S8 and its Active version. Speaking of the design, Samsung has opted for a flat display in Galaxy S8 Active as against the Infinity Display found on Galaxy S8 and S8+. Also gone is the bezel-less look with pronounced bezels in the S8 Active version and the Active Key has been replaced by the Bixby button.

To fulfill the main purpose of launching a more tough version of this flagship product, Samsung has opted for a polycarbonate build and endowed the phone with IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance and MIL-STD 810G standard for durability.

Coming to the specifications, Samsung has inducted a larger 4000mAh battery with fast wireless charging in Galaxy S8 Active (Galaxy S8 has 3000mAh battery) which makes it more bulky. Other features have been kept intact in the form of 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display with  Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top, octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with Adreno 540 GPU, and Android 7.0 Nougat.

The phone will be made available in Meteor Gray and Titanium Gold colors. Sticking to the norm, Samsung will make it AT&T exclusive when released which should be sooner rather than later.
