Global Galaxy Note 9 gets Night mode via an update, Canadian variant gets a bug fixer OTA, too

Galaxy Note 9-update

After the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S9, the dedicated Night camera mode is now rolling out to the global Galaxy Note 9 models with the Exynos chipset.

The new update is arriving as version N960FXXU3CSF9 and so far, it has been spotted on the German variant of the Note 9. The same update also brings a new June 2019 security patch.

The dedicated Night mode update for the camera was first released for Galaxy S10 devices in April 2019 before making its way to the Galaxy S9 via the June update. Now that the Note 9 is receiving the feature with the same June update, we expect that Samsung will turn its attention to the Galaxy Note 8 and S8 handsets with July updates, if not the incoming versions.

It’s worth noting that all this time, no Samsung device officially sold in the U.S. has received the dedicated Night camera mode feature. This includes the premium Galaxy S10 series, but we expect that Samsung will eventually bring this feature to its U.S. customers, probably beginning this June 2019.

Also receiving a new update is the Canadian variant of the Note 9. This is a second update with the same security patch for May 2019. The initial update came out in late May with build number CSE1 and weighed nearly 540MB. As for the incoming update, it weighs just over 170MB and brings build number CSE3.

The changelog provided by Samsung is the same for both updates, but given the second version keeps the same security patch level, it’s likely that it’s just a bug fixer. Besides, those who have already installed the new build CSE3 still see no sign of the Night mode feature in the camera app.
