Buy Google Cardboard for $18, if you can’t make one

Remember Google Cardboard? A DIY virtual reality headset project that uses a sheet of cardboard, your phone and a companion app to build a basic VR headset. Google launched the Cardboard project alongside with the announcement of Android L at Google I/O 2014.

The g.co/cardboard website gives you a quick overview of how to build the Cardboard VR headset easily using a cardboard sheet. The process is simple, fun and most importantly inexpensive. The Virtual reality is an exciting tech but it could only reach to a certain people due to the expensive hardware it requires, but that eases with the DIY Cardboard project from Google. However, if DIY isn’t your thing, you can still get it for cheap from the guys over at getgooglecardboard.com for $18 only.

You’ll get a pre-made Google Cardboard for $18 saving you the fun of doing it yourself, but not the fun of getting a cheap VR headset that will take your viewing pleasures to a whole new level of awesomeness.

Here’s what you’re going to get for $18:

  • Cardboard: Your cardboard body will be cut up by a laser cutter and ready for 60 second assembly.
  • Lenses: Quality glass biconvex lenses 45mm focal length by themselves go up to $25. We got you covered – we’ll get you the best lenses you can get for this, put right where they need to be.
  • Magnets: The virtual reality sensation is enhanced by a neodymium magnet attached to a ceramic magnet. Pulling down on this magnet engages actions inside the headset.
