Galaxy Tab S4 to come with Android 8.1 Oreo, 4GB RAM, and Snapdragon 835 chipset

Following the launch of the Galaxy Tab S3 at last year’s Mobile World Congress, expectations were high that this year’s event would play host to the launch of the Galaxy Tab S4. But as we all saw, this wasn’t the case, instead, the Korean tech giant concentrated on phones, namely the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.

This, however, didn’t mean the Galaxy Tab S4 wouldn’t materialize. In fact, we’ve seen multiple leaks and heard various rumors about the slate, but Samsung has yet to say a word regarding the same.

The slate first appeared on benchmarking platform GFXBench a while back and later on stopped by the Wi-Fi Alliance. Recently, the Tab S4 received Bluetooth certification, confirming that the launch date is almost here, and today, we have even more details about the phone’s specs, adding more weight to earlier leaks.

According to a listing on Geekbench, the Galaxy Tab S4 will ship with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor mated with 4GB of RAM and will run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, contrary to previous reports that pointed to Android 8.0. These reports also suggested that the slate will ship with a 10.5-inch 16:10 display screen, 64GB of expandable storage, 13MP and 8MP cameras on the back and front, and will be available both in Wi-Fi-only and LTE variants.

As pointed out earlier, the Tab S3 was announced at the MWC 2017 and now that the MWC 2018 is long gone and the Tab S4 isn’t here yet, our guess (for the release date) is as good as yours. On the brighter side, the fact that the device has already received Wi-Fi and Bluetooth certifications means that the launch date isn’t too far away.
