T-Mobile LG G4 gets January security patch update, build H81120r

The magenta carrier T-Mobile is seeding out a new firmware update to LG G4 units. The update arrives as version number H81120r.

Sadly, it is not the expected Android 7.0 Nougat update, but Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow based January security patch. To get the update, tap Settings » About phone » Software updates menu.

Do get connected to a WiFi network before starting the download and ensure that your phone is over 50 percent charged.

A few days back, T-Mobile rolled out the January security patch for LG G5 devices as well. The update arrived as build number H83020c.

On a side note, if you’re comfortable with installing a custom ROM on your device, you’d be happy to know that official builds of Lineage OS are now rolling out. Check our Lineage OS download page to get a build for your device.
