Sprint Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge (PD3) and Edge Plus (PD2) are receiving an update

Sprint Galaxy S6 Update

Update: The Odin flashable TAR is available of PD3 build for Sprint Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Check the firmware page below to download the firmware file, which you can manually install to upgrade your device, and as such no need to wait for the OTA if that’s proving long wait. It looks like we have to wait for the similar TAR for PD2 build of Edge Plus though.

A new update is currently rolling out for the Sprint Galaxy S6 live of handsets, that includes all three of them: the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge Plus. While both S6 and S6 Edge are being treated with a build no. ending with PD3, for S6 Edge Plus, it’s PD2 build — full version of these builds is G920PVPU3CPD3, G925PVPU3CPD3 and G928PVPU2BPD2 respectively. As regards changelog, there isn’t anything exciting as all it got is ‘Security Updates’ and ‘Bug Fixes’.

With all the devices currently running on the latest Android OS, v6.0.1, there isn’t to be much expected anyway.

If your device is rooted, then make sure that root is available on these new builds too before updating your device. Otherwise, don’t update if wanna keep root access.

To update your device using the OTA, go to Settings > System Updates, and then tap on ‘Download update manually’.

If you are unable to get an OTA under the above method, you can use the firmware with the same build no. to update your device manually. Check out our firmware pages for linked below:

We keep adding new firmwares to these pages as and when they become available, so in case latest build is not available (yet), be sure to check back in next few days.
