Sprint Galaxy S4 Android 5.0 Lollipop update now rolling out with build L720VPUGOD2, may also come with “Factory Reset Protection”

All of the Samsung devices which were eligible for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update are now coming to the point of getting their fair share. The Samsung Galaxy S4 has already fallen out of the 18 months update window that manufacturers are bound to, but thankfully, Samsung and Sprint are still pushing the Lollipop update to the device.

Starting right this moment, the Sprint Galaxy S4 (SPH-L720) is receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update with all of its material charm and cool new features, except for the new multi-user mode which Samsung has excluded from all of its Android 5.0 running devices.

The Sprint Galaxy S4 Lollipop update comes with firmware build L720TVPUGOD2, and it might also be coming with “Factory Reset Protection”.

Factory Reset Protection is a new feature in Android 5.0 Lollipop that partially locks the bootloader so that no one can factory reset your device without your permission, pretty useful when your device is stolen. However, this will also block flashing of custom binaries on your Sprint Galaxy S4, meaning you can’t root if you keep “Factory Reset Protection” setting on your device.

So, if you wish to root your Sprint Galaxy S4 after taking this Lollipop update, then you need to disable “OEM unlocking” from developer options. This will disable the FPR and you’ll be able to flash CF-Auto-Root again to root your Galaxy S4.

Oh yeah, Corrected. Thanks for notifying.

    2. Which CF-Auto will “re-root” 5.0? Is it the same one that did 4.2?
