Sprint Galaxy Note 4 update rolling out with July security patch, build N910PVPS4DQG1

Sprint Galaxy Note 4

Sprint’s Galaxy Note 4 is now receiving a new software update which brings with it the monthly security patch.

Arriving with the software version N910PVPS4DQG1, the update installs the July security patch on the handset.

Needless to say, as is the case with other OTAs, the update should bring along several system and performance improvements with it.

Since it’s just a security patch, it should weigh much in terms of size which means you can download it over cellular data without worrying about additional charges. Alternatively, you can download the update over a Wi-Fi network.

By now, most of your Galaxy Note 4 handsets must have received the update notification as the roll out has already begun. You can always check for it manually by heading to Settings > About device > Software update.

As always, back up your data before installing the update on your Galaxy Note 4. While you are at it, charge your device. Try to maintain at least 50% charge before installing the update.

  1. Sprint was my carrier circa 2000-2006; I get nostalgic seeing any story with “Sprint” in the banner. Sprint was leading the pack back in 2005 or so; this was right as cellphone ownership was going through the roof. My favorite ‘wonder gadget’ of all time is the Palm Treo 650 which seemed tailored to Sprint’s network at the time of purchase, December 4th of 2004. The fun we had with those Treos! I bought one for my fiancée as an early Christmas present when I got mine. The store manager was so effusive in his happiness at my buying two Treos that he gifted me a spare battery for each. I still have my Treo and it powers right up and functions as well as it did when new. My fiancée’s Treo was stolen from her in mid-2006; sadly, she passed away in early April 2016. I guess that’s why I’m so nostalgically-linked to Sprint and those Treos.

I wish Sprint had not dropped the ball with their customer service, as I perceived it, so that I felt that I had to go with another carrier. Sometimes I think, fondly, of porting my two original phone numbers back to Sprint and ‘go out’ as a Sprint customer as they seem to have righted their ‘ship’ by most accounts. It could happen.
