Sprint and Verizon Galaxy S6 Nougat update to release soon, certified already

In yesterday’s Galaxy S7 Nougat update announcement by Samsung, the company also shed some light on which Samsung devices are next in line for 2017 first-half Nougat release (Galaxy A3, A8, S6, Note 5, etc.), which also got hint of which ones aren’t (Galaxy A5, A7, etc.).

But here’s why we think the Galaxy S6 Nougat update would arrive before all other Samsung remaining Samsung devices, as the Android 7.0 build for Galaxy S6 has been certified today by your favorite certification agency — that gets us lots of info on upcoming devices too — the WiFi Alliance.

We’re seeing the Galaxy S6 Nougat update already certified for lots of device today, but not all. But the good news is, among major variants, both Verizon Galaxy S6 and Sprint Galaxy S6 have made the cut, apart from the Chinese one.

No mention of any variant of Galaxy S6 Edge Nougat update certification yet, BTW.

Following are the Galaxy S6 model nos. that were listed today by WiFi Alliance as certified for Android 7.0 update:

  • SM-G920P
  • SM-G920V
  • SM-G920R4
  • SM-G920R6
  • SM-G920R7
  • SM-G9200
  • SM-G9208/SS
  • SM-G9208
  • SM-G9209
  • SM-S907VL
  • SM-S906L

Sadly, the AT&T, US Cellular, T-Mobile and international Galaxy S6 variants did not receive the certification today. But as we’ve seen Samsung update the international variant before any other variants, we don’t think it’s a problem.

  1. My s906l is still on5.0.2. It would be pretty sweet if I got a mm update. But I seriously doubt it
