How to Root ICS on Transformer Prime using Sparky Root App

  1. Make sure USB debugging is enabled. Go to Settings » Development options, and tick the USB Debugging option.
  2. Download and install the app on your Prime by getting it from the original development page.
  3. Run the app on your Prime.
  4. Click “Step 1 Exploit”.
  5. Press the Home button to go to the home screen, then manually open up the ASUS App Backup tool and backup an app (make sure you do not close the root app by pressing the back key, it needs to be running in the background).
  6. Return to the Sparky Root app and click “Step 3 Install SuperUser” (will install the SuperUser app).
  7. Click “Step 4 Cleanup”.
  8. Your tablet is now rooted, and you can close Sparky Root app.

That’s it, you now have a rooted stock ICS firmware running on your Asus Transformer Prime, thanks to this useful root app. Share your thoughts on how the app works out for you, in the comments below.

  1. I did the root and now it’s running worse if that’s possible

  3.  I tried SparkyRoot with great hopes of easily rooting my Transformer Prime 102 – android build 9.4.2.21-20120323,  but was initially very frustrated when it wouldn’t pass the first step – giving me an error “Exploit not found”.  Then I realized that this is how it should be – any kernel that allows a user program gain root privileges (ie an “exploit”) is by definition defective.  I am glad the exploit is closed.  I will now have to go back to figuring out how to root my TP thru the USB cable.
