Sony Xperia T price set at $99 for 3 year contract in Canada

Sony Xperia T

Sony Xperia T, the Bond phone featured in the latest James Bond movie Skyfall, was released today simultaneously on five carriers in Canada: Bell, Mobilicity, MTS, Rogers and Videotron. The phone, much hyped for it’s association with James Bond, packs some really good specs.

The device features a 4.6-inch HD LCD display with resolution of 1280 x 720, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 13 megapixel cam capable of 1080p recording, and runs Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, with Android 4.1 promised in mid-Q1 next year.

Yeah, you maybe wondering what about the latest OS, Android 4.2, well, that would definitely take some time for every normal phone, except the Galaxy Nexus which has already gotten its share of update directly from Google itself.

Sony has repeatedly been calling the device as ‘the ultimate HD experience”, and with these specs, it looks like it can really deliver the performance Sony is willing to deliver.

Among other things, the Xperia T features a dedicated camera key is something that Sony fans have always appreciated. And we like the fact that Sony has opted Google favorite and Android’s default, on-screen keys for the Xperia T, which first appeared with Galaxy Nexus and has been adopted by Moto too for its new Razr devices, Razr HD and Razr HD Maxx.

That said, the Xperia T features a 1850 mAh non-removable battery. This could be a disappointing for some since first of all 1850 mAh is tad short of standards now a days, and the fact that it’s not removable and thus won’t allow you to swap batteries isn’t cool either. One nice addition is the microSD slot, which allows you to add additional storage space if you’re not satisfied with the inbuilt 16 GB.

Back to announcement table, Rogers, Bell and MTS will carry an LTE-enabled Xperia T, while Mobilicity and Videotron will have an 3G HSPA+ version.

Sony Xperia T Price

Unlocked Xperia T will cost you $550 which is not bad, but if you are looking for contract pricing, it will be $100 only, on the 3 year contract. The month-by-month plan pricing is set at $500.
