Sony Xperia ST29i Hayabusa Rumored Specifications and Expected Announcement Date

Sony is yet to release an Android phone with Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 out of the box, even though Android 4.0 has been out for almost half a year. It looks as if that could change soon with the rumored Xperia ST29i Hayabusa, which was caught in an image somewhere in China.

The Hayabusa (pictured above) is supposed to feature a dual-core Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 Pro processor with the Adreno 320 GPU, 1 GB of RAM, a 4.55 inch HD display, a 13 megapixel camera with HDR video capabilities, a 2200 mAh battery, and Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 powering the phone on the software side. The device is also said to be razor-thin at about 7 mm. With an Adreno 32o GPU and a 13 MP camera with HDR video, the specs sound too good to be true, but if it does have those, Sony will finally have a high-end device that could compete with high-end offerings from other manufactures like HTC and Samsung, like the One X or the Galaxy S3 (which will be released at the end of May).

Another Xperia device, Xperia ST21i, has shown up in leaked photos, codenamed the Tapioca (pictured below). Going by the specs — an 800 MHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, 3.2 inch HVGA display, 3 megapixel camera, and Android 4.0 — it will probably be the affordable low-end offering of the upcoming Android 4.0 based Xperia lineup.

The ST29i Hayabusa is expected to be announced in June. Here’s hoping the rumored specs turn out to be true, as they are quite awesome to be honest, and Sony is also sorely lacking a really high-end device. As for the ST21i, no info about the announcement is available at this point, but we’ll update you as and when further details are available.
