Slice – A Multi-touch circular keyboard for Android tablets. Not for the faint-hearted though!

Slice – a new player in the land of Android keyboards has released a new type of keyboard specifically targeted towards Android tablet users. Unlike conventional horizontal qwerty layout keyboards, which work on touch as well as swiping actions, Slice features a multi-touch based circular keyboard, which presents you with keys based on which fingers are placed on the keyboard.

Users who are proficient with touch typing without actually having to look at key placement might find this layout exciting, but for the average Joe, it sure looks like it will need a considerable amount of getting used to. The key feature in Slice is a blank home row with three buttons for each hand. Depending on which fingers you place on the home row, Slice automatically presents relevant keys which correspond to the direction relative to the home row and your fingers. Access to special characters, punctuation and numerals are also available easily.

Slice Keyboard, developed by Istas Technologies supports Android tablets with a display of 7 inches or higher. Any lower would defeat the ergonomic purpose that the app is theoretically expected to address. There is also a Space Invaders shooting cum typing game that is bundled, which will help you improve your typing skills while shooting alien ships out of the sky. You can try out the free Slice Keyboard Demo, or get the full version with system-wide support for $4.99.
