Security Update for Motorola Droid Razr HD and Maxx HD coming this week, might remove root!

Droid Razr HD and Maxx HD owners, let’s get the big question out of the way first. No, it’s not the Jelly Bean update. Though JB 4.1 will make its way to your handsets eventually.

Motorola Droid Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD users on Verizon are all set to receive a security update sometime this week, which will update your system version to 0.7.2. With the update being just 6 MB in size, and being labelled a Google Security Patch, it will probably not bring any new features, or make any noticeable changes to your device functionality.

It is conceivable though, that this could be a security patch against the recent root exploit developed by djrbliss of XDA. Just to be on the safe side, if you are already rooted using the Motofail2Go exploit, you may want to hold off on this update till we know more about it. If you’ve already received the update, applied it, and noticed anything different, we’d love to hear about it.

  1. I used OTA Rootkeeper and am still OK.

    1. Didn’t work for me; I lost root after Rootkeeper
