Samsung Stratosphere 2 release date still unknown but ads with $50 discount are already out!

Much has been made of the QWERTY-keyboard equipped Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere 2, including leaked specs from a Verizon listing and a leaked image on Twitter, as well as the fact that Samsung had added a menu key alongside the standard Back, Home and multitasking keys that exist as per per Android 4.0  guidelines.

Despite all the hype around the Stratosphere, there is still no word yet, either from Samsung or Verizon on the availability or pricing of this keyboard toting smartphone. However, BJ’s – a wholesale club, seems to have put out an ad which shows that Verizon plans to sell the yet-unannounced Galaxy Stratosphere between November 1st-22nd, on a $50 off promotion.

Considering we are already a week into that time frame, we are still wondering what Verizon is thinking. While the Stratosphere has pretty respectable specs for an Android 4.0 mid-range device, it’s not like this is the next big thing (no pun intended) which may warrant a big announcement along with some promotional commercials et al. In any case, Verizon seems to be overdue on more than one announcement, and needs to wrap this up soon, before people lose interest and move on.

Currently known details about the Stratosphere 2 are that it will sport a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 4″ Super AMOLED display, and 4G LTE connectivity, though we can expect a Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, a 5 megapixel camera, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board.

Between the LG Mach and the Stratosphere 2, what’s your pick?
