Samsung Kies updated to version 2.5

Kies

Samsung has updated its Kies software with a new refreshing interface and a new feature to help users coming from non-Samsung devices effortlessly transfer data to their new Samsung device.

The latest version of Kies stands at 2.5.0.12094_27 and you can download it from here OR if you’ve Kies already installed on your computer an update notification should come soon.

The new feature to transfer data from non-Samsung devcies will come in handy for noobs and new Samsung users. I’ve had a tiring experience helping people who come from old Symbian Nokia devices to a new Galaxy phone. Worst part is to get the Contacts and SMSs transferred without any issue, hope Samsung has done something to sort that out.

Odin users beware that Kies can interupt and cause issues when you’re flashing a firmware using Odin. It’s only good for installing drivers for the everyday Odin users. So always make sure you completely close the Kies (like really kill it) before starting a firmware update using Odin.

  1. Kies is ‘Crapware’ and only fools and beginners use it. If you don’t believe me Google ‘Kies doesn’t recognise my phone’. It comes up with 119,000 hits.
