We’re still in awe of Samsung’s Exynos dual-core 1.2 GHz SoC (System on Chip) processor that powers Galaxy S2, but it seems Samsung just got that thing improved to 1.5 GHz — that’s an addition of 300 MHz and that’s really cool. Not only that, Sammy has upped the capabilities of its GPU chip too — which now will deliver 50% higher 3D graphics, supports advanced codec accelerators for images, supports HDMI 1.4 and does 1080p recording and playback.
Samsung used the 32nm High-K Metal Gate (HKMG) low power process for Exynos 4212 1.5 GHz SoC chips, which should result in longer battery life than before — up to 30%, it’s said.
Regarding when you can expect it to hit market, well, Sammy will take its chip to various manufacturers in Q4 this year — not far, eh! — and this could turn out to be the chip which will power the recently announced Galaxy S II LTE and Galaxy S II HD LTE phones Korea. Obviously, we’re praying Exynos 4212 is the chip that powers upcoming Nexus Prime by Google, too!
