Samsung gives credence to rumors, trademarks Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge as its own

The rumor mill had been buzzing with speculations about Samsung’s upcoming flagship devices Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge for a while. What was even more intriguing was the fact that nothing much about these devices was known. In fact we only had confirmation regarding Galaxy S6 as the name of one of Samsung’s forthcoming handsets.

However, according to the recent update received from folks at the GalaxyClub, Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are coming, at least we can assume as much since Samsung recently trademarked both the names in South Korea.

According to the source, the filling did not really have much to offer apart from your usual information such as the date of filling (2 days ago), and the names that the electronics giant has claimed for its own (Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge).

It is interesting though that the “Edge” part is all in lowercase i.e. “edge”, now it might just be something the guys at Samsung decided or as is more likely, a inconsequential misstep by somebody at KIPRIS (Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service).

While we do not have any concrete information regarding its specs, it may be a safe bet to assume that it is going to follow the lines of the standard Galaxy S6, but according to hearsay Samsung might just be bringing out two auxiliary side screens with it. As for the release date, there hasn’t been any official word, yet. But we can look for the Galaxy S6 on the Samsung Unpacked event held on March 1.

Stay tuned!!
