Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 prepares for US April launch, clears FCC

The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 is slowly getting closer to a launch date. The Xcover 4 going by model number SM-G390Y was spotted over at FCC, which means it has received clearance from the certification agency for its release on US soil.

The Xcover 4 will is MIL-STD-810G certification and IP68 rating for being water and dust proof resistant. The device will also feature NFC support. The Xcover 4 also maintains the compact profile of the Xcover 3, albeit with a slightly larger 4.99-inch TFT display.

The Xcover4 is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core chipset coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB ROM. Storage can be expanded via microSD. The Xcover 4 also receives a slightly bigger 2800mAh battery from the 22oomAh battery on the Xcover 3. The cameras on the device have also been significantly upgraded to a 13MP rear shooter and a 5MP front facing camera.

As for the software on board, the Xcover 4 will run on Android 7.0 Nougat. With the way the Xcover series is designed, it could easily survive serious drops and all sorts of torture. Samsung probably designed this smartphone for really rough use like mountain climbing, for military personnel, kayaking etc.

The Xcover 4 is expected to be released by April of this year for €259.
